Todays labor was to remove the flat rocks from around my
demoted asparagus bed, to pile around the new bed.
Piling into a pile to pile around this new bed.
Chilling breeze, but mostly dry, blue sky.
Hard work, prying flat rocks from under ovrgrowth, off the frozen ground.
Hard work, so I could take time to listen to each rock's story.
Most gathered from stone wall for another asparagus bed 30 years ago, glacial erratics.
Some flat soapstone from a broken sink I disposed of.
Paeleozoic fossils, banded formations.
Hard work, when I found myself comparing different pain relievers,
knew it was time to take a break.
About half done, this time. If I do that much again I'll be ready to think of something else to do.
